INTERACTIVE INSTITUTE

A Hands-On STEAM Experience for incoming 5th – 9th grade

The Interactive Institute is a five-day, half-day summer STEAM camp designed to give students real-world exposure to science, technology, engineering, arts, and math through hands-on learning led by professionals from our community.

Hosted by the Coppell ISD Education Foundation (CEF) and held at Richard J. Lee Elementary School, Interactive Institute invites students to explore how classroom concepts show up in real careers — by doing, building, testing, creating, and problem-solving alongside industry experts.

What Makes Interactive Institute Different?

This isn’t a sit-and-listen camp. Each day, students participate in interactive, project-based experiences designed and facilitated by corporate and community partners working in STEAM fields. Rather than lectures, students engage in activities that spark curiosity, collaboration, and confidence.

Because students rotate through new experiences each day, they’re exposed to a wide range of career paths and applications, from engineering and healthcare to technology, design, and beyond.

Who Leads the Camp?
Designed and Led by Industry Professionals. Each day of Interactive Institute is built and facilitated by professionals working in real STEAM careers — not generalists running activities, but the people who do this work every day. Our 2026 partner lineup reflects the breadth of careers students will get to experience:
AstraZeneca • Baylor • Brazos Creative • Championship Martial Arts • Cochlear Americas • Colossal Biosciences • Coppell ISD Child Nutrition Department • Corgan • Microsoft • S2 Arts • UT Southwestern
From pharmaceutical research to creative production, hearing technology to genetic science, architecture to nutrition science, students rotate through experiences led by people doing the work in our community.

CEF provides full program coordination and oversight, with on-site support from CISD to ensure a safe, structured, and welcoming environment for all students.

Why Parents Love Interactive Institute

Parents consistently share that Interactive Institute:

  • Helps students see the “why” behind what they learn in school
  • Builds confidence through real-world problem-solving
  • Introduces students to careers they may not have considered
  • Feels engaging, purposeful, and fun — without being overwhelming

The curriculum is intentionally designed to complement CISD’s math and science instruction while giving students a broader view of what’s possible.
